The building that houses the Magari Estates Hotel is an ancient 16th-century hunting lodge that later became a farmhouse known as “Casetta”. The purpose of the restoration project was to give new life to a place that retains traces of a history made of people and rural life, in direct contact with nature, in a splendid valley at the gates of Verona.

The exterior lighting design respects the nature of the place and its characteristic as an isolated and quiet farmhouse, immersed in the tranquility of the surrounding vineyards. The facades are illuminated from top to bottom, starting from the roof overhang, to camouflage the lighting fixtures as much as possible, while accents of light indicate entrances and paths to guide and accompany guests, who once they cross the threshold find themselves enveloped in a soft and enveloping atmosphere. The light treats the buildings differently, according to their various intended uses and compositional characteristics, enhancing forms and materials without overpowering, integrating to enhance the elements that make each building unique. Completing the exteriors are the garden and paths with functional yet scenic lighting that creates suggestions and perspectives towards the cultivated fields surrounding the property without illuminating beyond. The lighting design deliberately leaves some areas used during the day and not at night in shadow, and others equipped to enjoy the starry sky and the peace surrounding the property.

The interior lighting design was conceived to respect the sense of tranquility and well-being that the place conveys. The Hotel is composed of many environments with different intended uses, and from a lighting perspective, each environment has been uniquely studied. The lights and lighting effects change in relation to the materials and morphological characteristics of each individual space. The chosen fixtures have minimal yet refined forms, with metallic finishes that integrate with the materials used for furnishings and construction elements. Exclusively for this project, special lamps were designed which, starting from the same minimal basic line, generate different compositions to meet the needs that individual environments require.
